In our line of work we have seen first-hand the disastrous effects substance abuse can have on family and friends. The loved ones of the addict come through not knowing what to do or how to handle the fact that someone they love has been lost to drugs. We find that parents especially do not understand where they went wrong with their children and are lost as to how to move forward or deal with the situation thereafter.
We at the ADF would like to tell parents and loved ones that you are not alone. In our therapeutic sessions you will find that there are many people out there going through the same situation as you are. It is important for us to come together and unite in the fight against substance abuse; a strong support system is the foundation of progress. We must not let each other succumb to the negative effects of substance abuse. With the support of one another you can help each other to share experiences and find ways forward as well as help your loved ones in the process.
The support groups will take place at the ADF centre on 17 Trisula Avenue, Arena Park Chatsworth from 6:30pm – 7:30pm.
