The rate of substance abuse and substance abuse related crimes and illnesses at an alarming rate. We have hundreds of learners and adults arriving at our offices attempting to deal with their drug addiction. The steps to recovery from substance abuse is a long grueling process, during which both the substance abuse dependent and their families find it difficult to deal with and cope. Parents and families of the substance abuse dependent find it extremely difficult to accept and cope with the dark path that their child or loved one has taken. Many parents become helpless and unable to accept that their child has slipped into this world have even attempted suicide.
Sam Pillay director of the Anti-Drug Forum said: " Recovering from substance abuse addiction is not just about taking some detox medication! It is absolutely important that the patient seeks therapeutic assistance. Sessions include, understanding addiction, coping mechanism, setting new goals, building relationships, relapse prevention and other topics which will assist making a lifestyle change and stay "clean".
The Anti-Drug Forum is offering free psycho-social sessions. The Aftercare program is specifically designed for recovering substance abuse dependents, and will take place from Monday- Friday between 11:00 and 12:00pm.
There is also a support group session which has been designed to assist the healing process and create a strong support network. It is offered for the substance abuse dependants and their families. The support groups will take place every Thursday from 6:30pm. If you would like to attend please call in and book your place.
