June 26th is International Day against Substance abuse and illicit Trafficking. This prominent day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1987, this day serves as a reminder of the goals agreed to by Member States of creating an international society free of drug abuse.
This year on the 26th of June in commemoration of the importance of fighting against substance abuse and illicit trafficking as well as in commemoration of their 10th year Anniversary in striving for a Drug free community, the Anti-Drug Forum will be hosting a prestigious event at the Aryan Benevolent Homes in Arena Park Chatsworth. The day will highlight the Organizations fight in the past ten years against the substance abuse in our community as well as the importance of June 26th as the international day against substance abuse and illicit trafficking. One of the highlights will be heart -warming performances from our youth from the ADF’s SMART clubs from various schools. The event will be attended by the MEC, Mayor, Schools and prominent stakeholders, well-wishers and sponsors over the past ten years.
Sam Pillay Director of the Anti-Drug Forum said: “It is a milestone event for the ADF to celebrate the 10th year anniversary. It was indeed a rollercoaster ride dealing with this very important and sensitive issue that has been running the community. We must thank all who has helped and supported us through these past ten years of striving for a drug free community and look forward to many more years fighting for this cause.
