Hundreds of people are addicted to heroin (sugars) which is causing havoc within our communities. Many people have experimented with it not understanding how addictive the drug is. People are usually addicted after experimenting with the drug a few times. Many people regret having smoked at all and have great difficulty in quitting the habit. They resort to detox medications which are easily available from pharmacies without really understanding how the treatment works.
Mr Sam Pillay Director of the Anti-Drug Forum said: “It is of great concern of how hundreds of people addicted to substances are resorting to medication which is also addictive. It is absolutely important that when they are on medication, they receive psychosocial services as well, medication on its own will lead to relapse.”
