For many years now the issue of substance abuse has been infiltrating our homes and our
communities. It is not easy to eradicate the dealer with so many more coming up. However
together we can eradicate the need for the dealer. Many people are unaware of the negative effects of substances from a drug to marijuana to a drug such as sugars. The nature of the addict is not vastly understood therefore the attempts to rehabilitate are often not successful.
Sam Pillay Director of the Anti-Drug Forum said “Medication alone will not be sufficient to
holistically rehabilitate the substance abuse dependent, there is also a need for psycho-social sessions to be implemented in conjunction with the medication thus stabilizing the substance abuse dependent both physically and psychologically and preventing relapse. Many people out there feel that no one understands their situation and use short-cut methods in the process of looking for a quick fix resulting in relapse. There are also many parents out there unaware of the signs and symptoms to look for in their children as well as many children who do not understand the seriousness of indulging in these substances. We would like to educate the community on the nature of substance abuse as well as provide them with the necessary assistance. Together we can strive for a drug free community.”
The Anti-Drug Forum has embarked on an education and awareness initiative to empower and educate our community on the dangers of substance abuse. We will be visiting various organizations in order to disseminate information on our services as well as provide the audience with the necessary information on substance abuse to enabling them to deal with it accordingly. If you would like the Anti-Drug Forum to come to your Organization, Company or community, please do not hesitate to contact us on 031 404 6993/ Email a request through firstname.lastname@example.org.
